Our client, UnitingCare Ageing, had acquired this site and were looking to convert the existing building to 16 independent living units. In addition, our client had been issued with funding incentives under the Government’s ‘National Rental Affordability Scheme’. As a result, there were tight time constraints regarding the delivery of the project.
The existing building also had some heritage significance with the local Council and the design needed to be sympathetic to the history of the area. There were significant challenges involved with converting an existing commercial building to residential apartments. We worked closely with our Certifier and Fire Engineer to provide a cost-effective solution. The end product was a successful project that delivered 16 new affordable dwellings for the sector.
