Taking health services to another level.
The Waratah Private Hospital project involved refurbishing a vacant floor in a multi-storey building to create a 30-bed rehabilitation ward, including associated services and facilities.
Impact Group’s role was to undertake pre-contract works, manage all stakeholders, finalise the contract documentation, and assist in delivering the construction works whilst the other hospital levels remained operational.
We also undertook cost control, reporting, defects management, superintendence, and Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) installation on completion. All works were completed within an extremely accelerated programme.
Our challenge was to ensure there was minimal disruption in a live hospital environment.
The patient always comes first.
Despite the luxury of working on a vacant floor, the hospital floors above and below were a live environment, utilised for surgery, rehabilitation and operational acute wards. Our challenge was to ensure there was minimal disruption to services, water, power and a lift that was shared by patients, staff and visitors. As such, any disruptive activities had to be scheduled around the hospital working times, e.g. water or power could not be turned off whilst the operating theatres were being used.
To be absolutely confident that building works did not interfere with the safety of the rest of the hospital, pre-planning and communication with management and care staff were imperative.
Impact Group nurtured a close relationship with the Director of Nursing and the Unit Manager for the rehabilitation ward, in order to ensure detailed planning on an hour-by-hour basis.Click here for more details
